NOTE ON SHRIMATI INDIRA GANDHI ON HER 92ND BIRTH ANNIVERSARY

.I AM A PROFESSOR OF INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC RELATIONS AT OSMANIA UNIVERSITY,HYDEABAD,INDIA.

I AM ALSO A GREAT ADMIRER OF SHRIMATI INDIRA GANDHI.THE FELICITY WITH WHICH SHE HARNESSED SOVIET POWER TO INDIA’S ADVANTAGE,HER ASTUTE HANDLING OF THE BANGLADESH CRISIS,AND HER TOTAL COMMMAND OF REALPOLITIK,ARE QUOTED BY ME IN MY LECTURES TO INTERNATIONAL AUDIENCES.

I AM ALSO PAINED THAT INDIA’S MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS IS LEFT TO TWITTERS LIKE SHASHI THAROOR.HE CALLED INDIRA GANDHI A “DURYADHONI”.HE IS TOTALLY INSENSITIVE TO INDIA’S CONCERNS.THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS NEEDS PEOPLE NOT WITH JUST “ERUDITION”-BUT “ACTION-ORIENTED”INDIVIDUALS WHO CAN PROJECT AND PROTECT INDIA’S VITAL INTERESTS IN AN EXTREMELY COMPLEX WORLD.ONE-LINE TWITTERS LIKE THAROOR ARE DOING IMMENSE DAMAGE TO THE M.E.A,AND ALSO THE CONGRESS PARTY,BY RUNNING DOWN ILLUSTRIOUS WORLD LEADERS LIKE INDIRA GANDHI.I HOPE YOU CAN BRING MY VIEWS TO THE ATTENTION OF SENIOR CONGRESS LEADERS,AND ALSO PROJECT THEM ON YOUR WEB-SITE.

    WITH WARM REGARDS,

    PROF. GAUTAM MURTHY,
    OSMANIA UNIVERSITY,
    HYDERABAD,
    INDIA.
